A power company called Areva has launched a new ad campaign that cashes in on the popularity of “airline emergency manual”-style design. I saw this great ad on tv and it did the job: I remembered the name of the company, and went to the web to find out more:
A similar look was used for this music video for Royksopp’s “Remind Me.” I remember seeing this for the first time and falling in love with the clever way of telling a story:
On a completely different video note, check out these other favorite quirky films from various sources that Kevin and I love:
Yes, I know you are all thinking what a load of b.s., the government just spends our money on over-priced toilets and military spending. But here’s a country whose citizens understand the link between paying taxes and essential human services- which I think Americans often take for granted.
Trust me, I’m not an insensitive cur about the whole 9/11 thing. The destruction and death of 3,000 people is certainly something that changed our lives and country. But I stumbled on some web junk that attempts to lighten the mood on this sour day of memorials and speeches. Enjoy!
Wonkette’s blog: “…September the Eleventh has inspired the most insipid, maudlin kitsch in the history of an already very kitschy nation, along with some truly stomach-turning old-fashioned American Huckersterism.” Some great bad art in the name of this holiday lies here.
Here’s another link that’s a bit condensed and simplified, but after a quick tally, I discovered I’m with McCain on two of these issues, and with Obama on five (not enough info on the Iran thing to really include that). Check it out and see where you stand: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/in_depth/629/629/7436221.stm
Here’s the text from this post originally back in June:
Yes, we all love Obama. But there’s a great site that outlines candidates’ stances on the issues, without prejudice. The information is based on statements from various interviews and speeches, sort of a cliff’s notes to the nominees. Seriously, take a look at these pages before you vote. You may be very surprised at what you find
Wow it’s been so crazy around here I’ve completely forgotten to post some of the most important stuff!
The biggest news is that I got a new job. It’s a temp assignment working for Hollywood Video’s Corporate office, doing in-store marketing, direct mail and stuff like that. It’s a great department, the people are really cool etc. The contract ends in December, but there’s a chance they may hire me permanently, so we’ll see what happens. The only stinker is that it’s in WIlsonville, about 25 minutes commute from home. Carpooling with Kevin is making it totally do-able
In band news, nordic will be releasing our first album together! It will be available as a download on iTunes or as a CD through CD-Baby.com (with album art designed by yours truly)! It’s a 5-song EP, called m.i.a.EP, that we actually recorded last year and decided to produce, in anticipation of a real full-length album to come out next spring. I’m sending the artwork off this weekend and will e-mail announcements as soon as it’s available.
We’ll also be playing our next show at the Banana Stand in Portland on Saturday August 23rd. The show starts at 8 pm and is free, so bring your posse! We’re in the process of booking shows throughout September and October around Portland and Seattle, so if you’re a fan shoot me an e-mail and I’ll put you on our mailing list.
That Saturday also happens to be the 5th anniversary of K-Dawg’s 30th Birthday, so holla at ya boy We’re having cake and bevs at the nordic practice space before loading up for the show Saturday…
